On Thursday evening, my parents flew into D.C. from California to spend a few days visiting me. It was both of their first times here, so they hit all of the critical points that I have already seen while I was at my internship - the White House, the Capitol, the Library of Congress, etc. We spent the remaining days walk all around D.C.; and when I say all around, I mean all around. These photos photos are from our Saturday and Sunday adventures around Dupont Circle, Georgetown, Adams Morgan, and at the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

We were lucky enough to be blessed with tickets by one of the R.A.'s of my program so we were able to get into the museum for which tickets have been sold out for months in advance. It was breathtaking, thought-provoking, and emotional. To see this space set aside on a national platform for a historically trampled on group of Americans to tell their story was beyond words. I will definitely hold this experience in my memory for many years to come, and I hope I will have a chance to come again in the future because even after almost five hours of exploration, it felt like we barely scratched the surface of what the museum had to offer.

Anyway, my parents are leaving tomorrow night and Eli will be flying in the next morning to celebrate my birthday with me! Here's to a great few days past, a great few days to come, and the best birthday EVER!!
