On Friday, we took a taxi to the other side of the city and went to el cemetario de Granada. After walking around the cemetery for a couple hours and sweating buckets we had lunch a little kiosk and ate some of the local specialties: vigoron (yucca topped with chicharones and ensalada) and pollo asado. After lunch we walked back and stopped for mangoes before running home to jump into the pool.
On Saturday, we were having a couple of friends over for dinner so we just relaxed in the morning and headed over to the supermarket in the afternoon to get ingredients for dinner which was pollo rostizado with rice, salad, and banana bread for dessert.
Today, Eli and I walked all the way to the Mariposario which took us about an hour and a half, but it was well worth it. We saw hundreds of different types of butterflies and had the whole place to ourselves. We hitched a ride back into Granada with a man from Miami who told us all about a lagoon that is now on our list of things to see before we leave. He told us that it was a swimming hole in the crater of an extinct volcano and therefore free of pollution (unlike the Lake Nicaragua). I can't wait to see this lake! And Drewni's coming tomorrow! So much excitement.
